The clinicians, engineers, legal advisors and operational leads behind a 130-bed specialised hospital at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport SEZ have been assembled to build an institution for the whole region, and it opens to patients in 2029. Under one roof they are putting the full range of care a major hospital carries and, a tier above that, the complex and rare work that currently takes families out of southern Africa altogether, with maternity, newborn and children's services at the heart of it.
Leadership & Direction
This group steers TEMCO through its pre-operational phase, across capital formation, clinical direction, finance, operations and delivery. The hospital they are building will earn Botswana foreign exchange the way tourism and minerals already do, and it sits within the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme as a healthcare entry point project and among the priorities of NDP 12.

Public and Corporate Relations
The project deals with media, institutions and corporate partners in person and on the ground in Botswana. A hospital built for the whole region still has to be known and answerable in the country building it, and that work is done face to face.

Clinical & Specialist Expertise
The team carries specialist depth across critical care for children (paediatric), nuclear medicine and advanced diagnostics, shaping a clinical service built to an international standard on the JCI accreditation pathway. Those same people are designing the services families ask about first: high-risk pregnancy care (obstetrics) and a neonatal unit for newborn babies, intensive care sized for children, IVF and fertility treatment for women and for men, gynaecological cancers of the cervix and ovaries, and surgery for patients small enough that their parents would otherwise be booking flights.

Legal, Governance & Community
Counsel and oversight run across law, regulation and governance, and an internal compliance function binds every person on the project, including the people who direct it. Community engagement sits with the same group, so that a hospital built for the whole region stays answerable in the place where it is being built.

Investor Relations
Capital partners and the institutions that fund projects of this size are met and kept current through this function. It sits apart from the clinical and governance work on purpose, so that the people building the hospital and the people funding it each have someone whose whole attention is on them.

Independent Benchmarking
International hospital benchmarking measures both the standard of care and what it costs against the destinations patients currently fly to. The target is accreditation-pathway quality at 25 to 35 per cent below South African private rates, around ninety minutes by air from most of the region.
A hospital is the people in it, and more than two hundred specialists are to be trained and recruited over the operating period, staying in the region long after any one case is closed.

An experienced clinical operations partner from the region anchors protocols, specialist recruitment and training integration across TEMCO's Centres of Excellence. Through that partnership the harder services, the ones that currently take patients out of southern Africa, will open staffed by clinicians who have already run them.

The TEMCO financial model and implementation plan were put through a delivery-readiness validation in the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP) process, an outside read on whether the project can be delivered as written.
